Northumbrian Water Review

Northumbrian Water is part of Northumbrian Water Limited, a member of Northumbrian Water Group. In Northumbria, there has been a gradual fall in overall water demand as a consequence of a reduction in industrial demand for water, though the pace of decline has now stabilised after some industrial closures during the economic recession. Northumbria compares well to the rest of the country as far as water resources are concerned and their major regional rivers, supported by Kielder Water, provide a high security of supply for Northumbrian Water customers. Northumbrian Water has invested millions of pounds to improve the bathing water quality in their region and in 2011 they were the first water company to have more than 90% percent of their beaches passing the most stringent measures. Northumbrian Water bathing waters are amongst the cleanest in England and Wales. Their distribution system is comprised of a network of pipes, pumps and tanks to ensure that enough water is available when it is needed, then delivered safely to people’s homes and places of work. Once treated for safety, water is passed along water mains to a service reservoir where it can be stored until required.
