John Smedley Review

John Smedley (1803-1879) was the first four generations of owners of Lea Mills in Derbyshire, all of the same name. Lea Mills was originally founded in 1784 by Peter Nightingale and John Smedley, to both clean yarn and power machinery. The mill specialised in the production of muslin and spinning cotton, but by the end of the 18th century, thy had extended their activities to include knitting and hosiery manufacture, allegedly they were the origin of Long Johns. John Smedley claims to be world's longest running factory manufacturer, the designer label John Smedley today is now familiar sight in boutiques, department stores and retailers around the world. The company sells to over 30 countries with their largest export market being Japan. The brand is also sold in concessions in branches of Selfridges and Fenwick. Their current product range includes cashmere blends, cotton classics, fashion, signature, sport and wool classics. They apply a simple delivery rate schedule for worldwide delivery, orders under £150.00 have a delivery charge of £5, for orders between £150.00 and £250.00 the delivery charge is £10, and for orders over £250.00 delivery is free! All UK deliveries are shipped using the DHL Express Pre-12 Noon Service, which guarantees next day delivery from time of despatch.
