Birmingham Midshires is a division of Bank of Scotland plc, which is itself part of the Lloyds Banking Group. They are based at Pendeford Business Park, Wolverhampton, with 67 offices throughout England. Previously, Birmingham Midshires was a building society, known as the Birmingham Midshires Building Society, which was formed in 1986 by the merger of the Birmingham and Bridgwater and the Midshires Building Societies. In 1999, the Birmingham Midshires Building Society agreed to a takeover bid from the Halifax plc. Halifax became a part of HBOS when it merged with the Bank of Scotland in 2001, then in 2007 became a division of Bank of Scotland plc following a reorganisation. In 2008 HBOS was taken over by Lloyds TSB and is now part of the newly formed Lloyds Banking Group. Birmingham Midshires as a division of the Lloyds Banking Group offers a range of specialist mortgage and savings products through their two UK operations BM savings and BM mortgages. BM Savings is part of Birmingham Midshires and provide hundreds of thousands of people in the UK with savings accounts, helping them make the most of their money. BM Mortgages offers residential and buy to let mortgages sold through independent financial advisers.
