Passport Service Review

To renew a passport, apply for a first passport or a child' passport, track your passport application, report a stolen or lost passport or for any other about eligibility, fees and what to do if you've changed your name - please call the Passport Service phone number above. The Passport Service is now known as the Identity and Passport Service, providing passport services to British nationals residing in the UK and, through the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, to those British nationals residing overseas. An executive agency of the Home Office in the United Kingdom, the Identity and Passport Service became operational in 2006 and succeeded the UK Passport Agency due to the passing of the Identity Cards Act 2006. The agency is now responsible for passports for British nationals, certificates such as birth, death, marriage and civil partnerships. There have been some changes in the passport service due to the Identity Cards Act, for example, all first time passport applicants now have to attend an interview with the Identity and Passport Service in order to verify their identity, whereas previously the application process could have been dealt with by mail.
