Cafe Rouge Review

Café Rouge is a French-styled restaurant chain in the UK, owned by Tragus Group Ltd, they have over 120 sites across the UK and were founded by Roger Myers and Karen Jones in 1989. The restaurant chain was into the Pelican Group, then in 1996, Whitbread purchased the Pelican Group which at the time comprised of over 110 restaurants, primarily Café Rouge brands. The restaurant chain was frequently mentioned in the 1996 novel Bridget Jones's Diary, which gave the chain a lot of exposure and helping them to grow until 2002, when Whitbread sold Pelican to Tragus Group in a management buy-in. Café Rouge introduced a new fast-service format in 2011 in an aim to reduce customer waiting time, this new reduced menu range is now available to eat in or take away. Café Rouge joined the Nectar loyalty card reward scheme in 2012 as a redemption partner and in 2013 were official partners of Comic Relief. The current menu at Café Rouge consists of a range of French classics and wines, they were awarded winner in the Mediterranean Casual Dining category at the 2012 Menu Innovation and Development Awards. On Red Nose Day, Café Rouge organised the largest gathering of staff in one place in an attempt to break the Guinness World Records for both the largest number of people simultaneously making a baguette, and the largest number of people opening bottles in a relay, both records were broken with lots of money raised for Red Nose Day.
